Parents Under Construction™ (PUC) is an award-winning, research-based curricula that teaches children of all ages the parenting skills that they will use in the future. School faculty and volunteers teach Parents Under Construction™in schools across the greater Houston area, as well as throughout Texas and the United States.

Why do kids need to learn parenting skills? Prevention is key.

Although parenting is the most important job any adult could have, most students leave high-school with no training or education in this area. In 2006, there were over 40,000 reports of child abuse/neglect in Houston alone. Ineffective and/or abusive parenting is a significant contributing factor to many social and health problems, including:

• substance abuse
• delinquency and crime
• poor academic performance
• teen pregnancy
• violence
• emotional disturbance (depression, irritability, aggression)

Without education, the cycle of dysfunctional parenting and abuse will only continue to plague our communities. Parents Under Construction™ can prevent this.
